Q:I wish you and your family the best of luck in your new adventure in life, may it bring you health, happiness, growth and joy, with adventures, friends and plenty to last through your lives ahead!
Thank you, thank you! :)
Q:Hey guys! Congrats on the new direction! Hope all is well Jacob & Family.
Q:I spent little bits of my day enjoying every post on your blog. Although I'm just a teenager, I think what you're doing for your family is incredible. Your children are going to appreciate nature and all its resources so much more than they might've growing up in LA. I live in western Canada where I am surrounded by forrests and mountains which I miss very much when traveling east. Even though I have never been to eastern US except Florida, from the looks of your pictures you've chosen a great l
Hi there! Thanks so much for the lovely message <3 We loved western Canada when traveling through. We really love Alaska and it has been awesome in the winter so I can’t imagine how beautiful summer will be :) Thanks for reading the blog and be sure to keep in touch!
Q:I'm really excited for you guys to go to Alaska. My ultimate goal is northern B.C. so I hope to learn a lot more from you guys there! Please do keep in touch. I still have your email and I'd love to talk more with you all in the coming year. Safe travels!
Hi! Sounds good, keep in touch! :)
Hey guys! A reminder our blog has moved over to www.midnightsunorganics.tumblr.com
We finished up our 12 day, 5,000 mile road trip! We are in our little beach house cabin in Alaska now and settling in. It’s been a crazy adventure and the road trip still seems surreal. Alaska is beautiful and has been very welcoming. Happy to be in our new home!

Thank you readers for following our homesteading journey these past 15 months. Head over to our new blog to read about our upcoming trip/life in Alaska, thanks!
Little photo shoot we did before leaving Tennessee. Check out my friend, Alex Garcia’s line of clothing and other cool stuff at http://www.ghostmachineart.com/products
Not only is he a phenomenal artist, he also designed these cool shirts and donates $3 from every shirt sale to help children in developing countries. He recently visited the Philippines and plans to donate to help fund a children’s center. Art + a cause! Check them out.
Was our last night in our tiny cabin. We will miss this place a bunch. On to new exciting adventures though! Our trip has not officially begun. First we are visiting family in DC.
Soaking up the last of fall before we head to Alaska! The weather is absolutely beautiful here in TN! There is about a 30 degree difference so we are mentally preparing for the change in weather ahead. Sad to say goodbye to to this perfect fall weather but excited for scarves, hot chocolate and some warm home cooked meals.
Q:Oh my gosh, congrats to Jacob and all of you! That's such an exciting adventure. What will you be doing with your buildings/animals? The setting will sure be different; can't wait to follow this new chapter in all your lives!
One of the hardest parts about making this decision was not being able to take our animals. It is very bittersweet. However, this is an opportunity that we could not pass up!
Fortunately, we found homes for all of our animals with friends and neighbors! We will be able to keep in touch with them online. Thanks for the question.
We wanted to thank our readers, old and new, for following our adventure and your constant support. This blog was created to document our homesteading journey and we are glad it has inspired so many of you!
With some sadness we are announcing Home Sweet Homestead is nearing an end. Our life is taking us in a new and exciting direction! Jacob has been offered a job in Alaska! He has also started college online and is working towards his Bachelors degree. We will be moving to a rural seaside town off the coast and we are so excited for our next adventure!
The decision to take this job and move 4500 miles away was not reached lightly. We weighed all the possibilities and it is the best decision for our family. We will be starting a new blog to document our adventures into the Last Frontier. We will keep Home Sweet Homestead up for any passers by who are looking for inspiration.
Thank you for your support this past year! We hope to see you over on the new blog. We’ll post a link when it’s up!
